Weather Data

The data used for the current conditions and weather forecasts are those of the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) U.S. government agency that provides access to the data free of charge.

Current weather conditions (METAR).

In particular the data of the current data are METAR: METAR is a weather message issued at the airport, and is an abbreviation for METeorological Aerodrome Report. Our database consists of over 215,000 city, the current conditions related to each location are those of the nearest airport weather station in terms of latitude and longitude. Each METAR station is identified by a code of 4 letters (ICAO).

Weather (GFS).

The data for weather forecasts used are those of the GFS (Global Forecast System), the GFS is a numerical model used for weather forecasts and produces forecasts up to 16 days. Again, for our choice, the weather forecast for a location are those of the nearest airport weather station in terms of latitude and longitude.

Date and Time.

The dates and times of the forecasts are expressed in UTC, while the date and time of the current conditions is the local date and time of the displayed city.
